About Out Of Sight Teaching LLC

Out Of Sight Teaching LLC was founded by Jessica Jankech (Umhoefer) in February 2013 with the ambition to provide services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired in New Jersey

Jessica is a New Jersey certified Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired and Orientation & Mobility Instructor. In addition, she holds her ACVREP Orientation & Mobility Certification. After graduating from Kutztown University in 2009 with a BS in Elementary Education and Special Education for the Blind and VI, she went on to teach for a school district in New Jersey and still continues to do so today. During the Fall of 2011, she entered the graduate program at Western Michigan University where she  earned her M.A. in Orientation and Mobility.

Through instruction of the expanded core curriculum for the blind and visually impaired, (Assistive Technology, Orientation & Mobility, Career & Vocational Education/Transition, Compensatory Skills: Braille and Communication modes, Independent Living Skills, Recreation and Leisure Skills, Self Determination, Social Skills, Visual Efficiency Skills) Jessica strives to foster independence of individuals who are visually impaired.

"As a teacher of the blind and visually impaired, I teach my students that with determination and hard work, they can achieve anything that they put their mind to. I push them to their limits and encourage them not to use their disability as crutch. It is their job to prove to the world what they are capable of and to teach others how to love blindly."

During the summer of 2020, Jessica and her family moved to Hunterdon Country, NJ. She is very excited to begin Out of Sight Teaching's journey in the area.
